Lexi's baby shower favors!

When Erin sent me the cutest dinosaur cookie cutters for my birthday, I knew immediately they needed to be incorporated in our shower plans, but truthfully, the more I thought about it, the more I knew, logistically speaking, little baggies of adorable dino cookies would NEVER make the trip to California without some issues. So, I started looking for other favor ideas.

One day, while on Pinterest, I stumbled upon THE PERFECT idea, and thus, the best idea for Erin's baby shower favors started to form. Since the shower was immediately after Valentine's Day and Erin was having a baby girl, I knew I would be able to customize them perfectly.

So, I baked the adorable dinosaur cookies, using my tried and true recipe for sugar cookies from Toba Garrett and Wilton's royal icing to decorate them. I hit up the after Valentine's Day sales, scored pink M&Ms for 50% off, swapped out semi-sweet chips for white chocolate chips, and hauled it all to California. After a diligent search for mason jars, one of the baby shower co-hostesses came through at the last minute, and I put these babies together in less than an hour before the shower.

You will need:
-Large mason jars and lids (found at Target in Dallas, Walmart near Claremont, and nowhere near Palos Verdes.)
-Ribbon
-Cookies in baggies, if that's your thing
-Oats
-Brown sugar
-M&Ms (I used Valentine's Day ones, since they were the colors of the shower.)
-Baking soda
-Baking powder
-Chocolate chips (I used white chocolate chips to stay with the theme of the shower.)
-White sugar
-Salt

Each Mason Jar Contains:
-1-1/3 cup all purpose flour
-1 teaspoon baking powder
-1 teaspoon baking soda
-1/4 teaspoon salt
-1 cup oats
-3/4 cup m&ms
-3/4 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
-1/2 cup brown sugar
-1/2 cup white sugar

Process:
First layer: flour, baking powder, baking soda and salt
Second layer: oats
Third layer: M&Ms
Fourth layer: chocolate chips
Fifth layer: brown sugar
Sixth layer: white sugar

Tag Instructions:
Add:
1 slightly beaten egg
1/2 cup butter
1 teaspoon of vanilla
Mix thoroughly
Bake at 350 for 10 minutes

Notes:
*Make sure you pack in each layer, otherwise you WILL run out of room. Tapping the jar on the kitchen counter while upright has the desired effect. I did this after each layer and space was still tight.
*I used a funnel to get the ingredients in the jar. MUCH less messy that way. :)
